The road trip began at Long Beach airport on December 15, 2004. Tom and Emily rented a SUV, drove to LAX and picked up Virgil. They proceeded up the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) to view some of the tallest trees in the world on the Avenue of the Giants. Links are stops along the way; photos are of the road (all information links open in a new window). December 28, 2004 was the last day of the trip and the first day of the rain. Hermosa Beach was the last stop before boarding planes for Seattle, Washington and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. California is a magnificent state from the redwood forests to the central valley and the coastal waters. Thank you for taking the time to join the trip.
